Abstract
The project evaluates the mechanical characterization of carbon fibre reinforced biobased resin composites. The mechanical properties of the fibre, resin, and composites are individually analyzed. Plasma treatment is conducted on the surface of carbon fibre to enhance the fibre matrix adhesion and the mechanical properties of the composites. The single fibre tensile and single fibre fragmentation tests are conducted to analyze the interfacial adhesion between the fibre and bioresin. The flexural, interlaminar shear strength, Mode I interlaminar fracture toughness of the composites are evaluated to find the influence of fibre surface treatment on the fibre matrix bonding.
